An Ghaeltacht – A Website for the Irish Language

There are few websites devoted to the Irish language, and the few that are out there are (for the most part) of low quality. I would like to build a modern website and in a sense community around the Irish language.

Irish (Gaeilge) literature was the first vernacular literature in western Europe. It would be a shame if it could not make it through the 21st century. I intend to make it happen. I love the Gaeilge language and with your help we can help it survive (and expand) through the century.

I hope to change that, donate at indiegogo.

If it succeeds I will take off my next semester at school and build a beautiful website. If it fails, I guess I will have learned something about add campaigns. In either case, I think it is important to expand the language if it is going to survive.

  1. I’m sorry this didn’t work out. Are you going to work on it in the future? One suggestion I have, if you still plan to pursue it: Get other Irish speakers involved. If it’s just you and your girlfriend trying to raise money for a project in which your average person doesn’t see value, you won’t get too far. But if you find like-minded individuals with resources – or perhaps even who know the language more extensively – I think you’d get far. Just an idea!

    1. Probably not for the moment. I had quite a few people contact me who know Irish, but I couldn’t raise enough money. Perhaps I’ll pick it up again when I’m out of college.
